What Is a Family Enrichment Center? How Harmony Hub Supports Families in the Bronx
A Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is a free, welcoming community space where families can connect with neighbors, participate in activities, access resources, and help shape the programs and opportunities available in their own neighborhood.
In New York City, Family Enrichment Centers are funded by the New York City Administration for Children's Services (ACS) and operated by community-based organizations. Participation is free and voluntary, and families do not need a referral, appointment, or eligibility screening to visit.
The model starts with a simple idea: families know their communities best.
That philosophy is at the heart of Harmony Hub, Catholic Guardian Services' Family Enrichment Center in the Fordham/University Heights community of the Bronx.
Harmony Hub creates a welcoming neighborhood space where parents, caregivers, children, and community members can build relationships, participate in events and activities, connect to resources, and share what matters most to their families.
Rather than designing solutions for a community, Harmony Hub works alongside residents to build on local strengths and develop programs and supports that reflect what families themselves say they need. Activities, partnerships, resources, and opportunities evolve with the interests and priorities of the community.
Family Enrichment Centers are designed to strengthen families throughout the year — helping families stay together and thrive in everyday life and during difficult times — by building social connections, increasing access to resources and concrete supports, and creating opportunities for families to participate in decisions affecting their communities.
Harmony Hub is one of 30 Family Enrichment Centers across New York City's five boroughs. The ACS FEC Citywide Directory identifies Catholic Guardian Services as the community-based organization operating Harmony Hub at 2001A Creston Avenue in the Bronx.
In February 2023, ACS announced Catholic Guardian Services as the organization selected to operate a new Family Enrichment Center in Fordham/University Heights.
