FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Families can face moments when parenting, financial pressure, isolation, relationship challenges, or other stresses begin to make everyday life harder. Catholic Guardian Services’ Family Support Services walk alongside families during those times with community-based support designed to strengthen relationships, promote healthy child development, and help families build greater stability.

Our prevention programs provide support early, before challenges become crises or lead to deeper involvement in the child welfare system. Through therapy, home visiting, parenting and maternal support, advocacy, violence prevention, and neighborhood-based resources, families can build on their strengths, strengthen their support networks, and create healthier futures for themselves and their children.

Catholic Guardian Services provides family support and prevention services under contract with the New York City Administration for Children's Services (ACS).

Functional Family Therapy-Therapeutic Case Management

When families are managing conflict, behavioral concerns, or other pressures that are affecting stability at home, they may need both therapeutic support and practical help navigating what comes next. Therapeutic Case Management works with the whole family to strengthen relationships, address challenges early, and help children remain safely at home whenever possible.

Using the evidence-based Functional Family Therapy model, our teams provide in-home and community-based therapy alongside case management, advocacy, and connections to resources. Families build stronger communication and problem-solving skills while also receiving support to address practical needs that may be adding stress. The goal is to strengthen the family as a whole, increase stability, and reduce the likelihood of deeper involvement in the child welfare system.Top ⌃

Family Connections

Sometimes a family needs someone who can meet them where they are, listen to what is happening, and help them work through challenges without judgment. Family Connections is a free, confidential, home-based prevention program that supports families while children remain safely at home.

Through therapy, counseling, advocacy, and help navigating community resources, staff work alongside families to reduce stress, strengthen relationships, and address the issues affecting their stability. Families build practical tools and stronger support systems that help them manage challenges together and create a safer, more supportive environment for their children.‍ ‍ Top ⌃

Parenting Resource Center

Pregnancy and a baby’s earliest months can be joyful, overwhelming, and filled with questions about health, safety, and caring for a newborn. The Parenting Resource Center supports expectant and new parents during pregnancy and early infancy with practical education, maternal support, and trusted guidance.

Families receive help understanding prenatal and postnatal care, infant health and development, maternal well-being, and safe infant-care practices. By helping parents access healthcare, build confidence, and feel more prepared for the transition into parenthood, the Parenting Resource Center works to improve maternal and infant health and reduce preventable risks during this critical stage of life.

Harmony Hub

Families know their communities best. Harmony Hub, Catholic Guardian Services’ Family Enrichment Center, is built around that idea, creating a welcoming neighborhood space where families can connect with one another, access resources, and help shape the programs and opportunities available to their community.

Through events, activities, partnerships, services, and opportunities for families to share what matters to them, Harmony Hub creates a place for connection, learning, and belonging. Rather than designing solutions for a community, the Hub works alongside residents to build on local strengths and develop supports that reflect what families themselves say they need. Top ⌃
