Peggy Smyth is a highly regarded public and private equity-backed company director. She is a Senior Advisor at Alvarez & Marsal and serves on the boards of the following companies: Etsy (NYSE), Remitly (NASDAQ), Flexential (Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partenrs/GI Partners), Renewa (QIC/La Caissa) and MOA Funds.
Peggy is known as a highly effective financial leader and change agent, responsible for guiding transformations resulting in increased productivity, engagement, and performance in energy, infrastructure, technology, fintech, industrial, and professional service companies. Previously she was a Partner at QIC Global Infrastructure, a major Australian alternative assets manager and investor focused on energy transition companies. As CFO at National Grid US, she helped drive significant growth in earnings, cash flow, and assets that changed the company’s trajectory and won over once-doubtful investors. Earlier in her career, Peggy held key finance leadership positions at Consolidated Edison (VP of Finance), United Technologies Corporation (CFO of Hamilton Sundstrand and UTC Corporate Controller), and 3M Corporation (Chief Accounting Officer).
Peggy has presented in many forums, including leading the CFO Roundtable at the United Nations and the Equilar/Nasdaq Leadership Forum. She has received a host of awards and honors, including recognition by the Energy Inclusion Conference as one of the “100 Most Influential Women in Energy.” Peggy lives with her family in New York and County Roscommon, Ireland.
